Privacy Policy
App: Float Teleprompter (package: com.floatprompter.app) | Last updated: August 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Float Teleprompter ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use the App. We built the App to work with as little data collection as possible — most features run entirely on your device.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide
- Account information (Sign-up / Sign-in): The App uses Firebase Authentication to let you create an account or sign in (e.g. with your email address or a Google account). We collect your email address, display name (if provided), and a unique account ID generated by Firebase. We do not see or store your password — that is handled and encrypted by Firebase/Google.
- Account data stored in the cloud: Once signed in, certain account-linked data (such as your profile info and app preferences tied to your account) is stored in Google Firestore, our cloud database, so it stays available if you switch devices.
- Search topics: When you type a topic or niche into the Ideas or Script Generator tabs, that text is sent to public, free third-party services (Wikipedia and DuckDuckGo) to fetch relevant content. We do not attach your identity to these lookups.
b) Information collected automatically
- Advertising identifier (Android Ad ID): Used by Google AdMob to show ads and measure ad performance.
- Device and diagnostic data: Basic crash and performance data may be collected to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
c) Information stored only on your device
- Camera and microphone: Used to record teleprompter videos. Recordings are saved to your device's local storage and are never uploaded to our servers.
- Generated scripts and search history: Saved locally on your device so you can view or delete them later. We do not have access to this data.
- Storage access: Used only to save and retrieve your recorded videos and scripts from your device.
2. Permissions Used by the App
| Permission | Why it's needed |
| Camera | Recording teleprompter videos |
| Microphone | Capturing audio during recording |
| Storage / Media (Photos & Videos) | Saving and accessing your recorded videos |
| Internet | Fetching topic ideas and script content from Wikipedia/DuckDuckGo, showing ads, and (if enabled) sign-in |
| Wake Lock | Keeping the screen on during a teleprompter session |
| Advertising ID | Displaying and measuring ads via Google AdMob |
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
These services may independently collect data such as IP address or device information when the App communicates with them. We do not control and are not responsible for their data practices.
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not upload your recorded videos to any server.
- We do not use AI providers or send your data to AI APIs — topic ideas and scripts are generated from public web content, not personal data.
- We do not access your contacts, location, or files unrelated to the App's recording features.
5. Data Retention
Recordings, scripts, and search history remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. If you signed up or signed in, your account information (email, display name, account ID, and any data linked to your account in Firestore) is retained until you request deletion as described below.
6. Account & Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time, whether or not the App is still installed on your device. See our dedicated Account & Data Deletion page for instructions, or email us directly at learneducamy@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" from the email address associated with your account.
Once we verify your request, we will delete your Firebase Authentication account and all related Firestore data within 30 days. Locally saved recordings, scripts, and history stored only on your device are removed by uninstalling the App or clearing app storage.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Choices
- You can deny or revoke Camera, Microphone, or Storage permissions at any time in your device Settings — some features will not work without them.
- You can opt out of personalized ads via your device's Ads Settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization).
- You can delete locally saved scripts, history, and recordings directly within the App or by clearing app storage in device Settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
